SWOF Recap: Looking Back, Looking Forward - 2022 By The Numbers

December is often a time we take stock of the year that was.

As our team looks back at 2022, we are proud to have achieved another year of growth – more acres enrolled, more farmer payments, additional community and environmental outcomes. And we are thankful to have broadened our partnerships with farmers, governments, corporations, commodity associations, and other organizations.

In 2022 we expanded into three new states – Indiana, Minnesota, and Missouri – and worked with producers of all shapes and sizes across six states.

Our conservation agronomists and monitoring and verification teams are hands on, helping farmers implement and optimize new practices.

In the past year we have worked across a variety of geographies, crop and cover crop types, practices, and operations to implement new conservation agriculture practices and monitor and verify the associated outcomes.

We’re thrilled that in our recent participating farmer survey 100% of our producers enrolled in 2022 indicated they are likely to re-enroll in the coming year. We’ve added a few new staff to our team in the past year to keep pace with our program growth. As a farmer-focused program that values transparency, feedback, and win-win outcomes we continue to learn from and grow with our producers and partners.

Taking an even broader look at our progress, during the past two years the Soil and Water Outcomes Fund has:

  • Enrolled more than 240,000 acres of cropland across 10 states.

  • Made an average payment of more than $30 per acre to enrolled farmers (on top of the cost savings that farmers achieve through conservation agriculture)

This has resulted in these environmental outcomes:
