Driving Meaningful Change

The Soil and Water Outcomes Fund is an outcomes-based program that connects your sustainability goals with on-farm conservation practices. It incentivizes farmers to implement practices that deliver measurable environmental outcomes, which are verified and can be invested in to meet your sustainability commitments.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV)

SWOF uses a combination of models, soil and water sampling, and in-person field visits to quantify results. Our independent verification processes provide an added layer of credibility to our work. We work with third-party experts to validate the results we report, ensuring that our claims are reliable and based on rigorous assessment methodologies.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • "We have a very, very large sourcing footprint, and we don’t know all of the farmers who do or could be providing our ingredients to us. We need partners who have local expertise to help support the practices we might be looking to implement, and to measure and validate that these activities are having the impacts we need. We’re in this for the long haul.”

    — Dan Peerless, Nestlé Global Sustainable Sourcing and Climate Lead

  • “Soil health is a long-term investment. The Soil and Water Outcomes Fund puts farmers and landowners at the center, because if these solutions work for them, they will scale. Cargill is excited to be involved in the Soil and Water Outcomes Fund and to demonstrate how farmers can help address some of humanity’s biggest challenges.”

    — Ryan Sirolli, Cargill

  • “The program is simple, straightforward, and you know where you stand with payments and the opportunity before they leave. It doesn’t get any easier than this.”
